Pedestrian safety operation sites 22

Bend Police wrote 22 citations Wednesday morning to drivers contacted during a pedestrian safety operation at the corner of Galveston Avenue and Northwest 12th Street.
Officers were at the intersection from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., pulling over drivers who failed to properly yield to pedestrians.
Eight drivers were cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian, four for using a cellphone while driving, three for failure to use a seatbelt and six on assorted unspecified violations.
Officers issued another 12 written warnings, and one driver was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.
