Mount Hood body — Authorities have identified a body brought down from Mount Hood on Sunday as that of missing climber Kinley Adams of Salem. Adams was a 59-year-old dentist and experienced climber who had been missing since June 22. It’s not yet known what went wrong on his climb. He was preparing for a climb in Nepal. The Clackamas County medical examiner is to conduct an initial examination Monday. The sheriff’s office says results may not be available for a few days. Oregon Army National Guard helicopter crews spotted the body Saturday at about 8,400 feet near the top of Sandy Glacier. The sheriff’s office said a “very difficult and technical mission” on the part of search and rescue teams ended about 6 p.m. Sunday when the body was brought down.

Beach advisory — The state has issued a health advisory for Harris Beach in Curry County. Tests showed higher-than-normal levels of bacteria at the east end of Goat Island. Storm water runoff and animal waste from birds such as sea gulls and even pets can cause high fecal levels in ocean water. Health officials recommend visitors avoid wading in nearby creeks or in discolored water and staying away from runoff flowing into the ocean. Even if there’s no advisory, officials say it’s best not to swim in the ocean 48 hours after a rainstorm.
