”Hilde” passed away Sunday, July 7 in Madras at age 91. She was born in Redmond to W. Dean and Nettie Pearl Cyrus on April 3, 1922.

She lived most of her life in Central Oregon including 12 years on the Cyrus homestead at Grey Butte now Crooked River National Grasslands. She attended schools at the Rush home place, Culver, Terrebonne and graduated in 1941 at Redmond.

Hilde worked for years as a clerk: at Aunt Graces hotel in Sisters, Piggly Wiggly and Safeway in Redmond. In later years she babysat many children at her home on 17th Street. She worked with preschool children at Forest Avenue Baptist Church.

In 1946 Hilde married Clarence Tippett who died in 1984. She later married Curtis ”Grampa” Johnson who passed in 2004. Her brother, Warren preceeded her in death.

Hildegarde is survived by brothers, Thomas Cyrus of Lompoc, California and Raymond Cyrus of Terrebonne. She enjoyed a clan of many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 12 at Historic Chapel, Powell Butte Christian Church, 13720 Oregon 126, Powell Butte.
