Bend writer Sue Fountain has self-published a book about growing up in Bend in the 1950s and ’60s. Titled “Too Cold to Snow: A Memoir,” its chapters include “Bend Water Pageants,” “Troy Field, 1950” and “Elk Lake.”

Fountain will read from and sign the book at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Dudley’s Bookshop Cafe, 135 N.W. Minnesota Ave., in downtown Bend. The book is available at Dudley’s, as well as Amazon.com.
