A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports:

Tuesday

Cycling, Bend Memorial Clinic Cascade Cycling Classic opens in Bend, 6 p.m.: The 34th edition of the longest-running pro cycling stage race in North America kicks off with the prologue at Tetherow Golf Club. Five racing stages follow over the next five days, highlighted by Friday’s Downtown Twilight Criterium.

Tuesday

Major League Baseball All-Star Game, 4:30 p.m. (Fox): The New York Mets host the annual Midsummer Classic for the first time since 1964 and for the first time ever at Citi Field. The National League has won three in a row over its American League rivals, including an 8-0 drubbing last season at Kansas City.

Wednesday

Equestrian, Oregon High Desert Classics: More than 500 riders from across the West are expected for the annual hunter/jumper horse show, which opens its two-week run at the J Bar J Boys Ranch in Bend. The featured event this week will be the $25,000 Oxford Hotel Group Grand Prix, set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Spectators are welcome; admission is free.

Thursday

Golf, 142nd British Open first round, 1 a.m. PDT (ESPN): The Open Championship returns to Muirfield in Scotland, which is hosting this major championship for the 16th time. Ernie Els is the reigning champion and could be a contender on the course where he hoisted the Claret Jug in 2002.

Saturday

Mountain biking, High Cascades 100, 5:30 a.m.: This annual endurance mountain bike race, first staged in 2009, takes place mostly on rugged singletrack trails west of Bend.
