Elks get 5-2 road win over Cowlitz

LONGVIEW, Wash. — Seth Spivey hit 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Bend Elks to a 5-2 victory over Cowlitz in West Coast League play on Saturday night.

Starter Taylor Elman picked up the victory on the mound for Bend after throwing five innings and giving up one hit, two walks and recording four strikeouts. Xavier Borde got the save.

Grant Newton and Kyle Giusti each had two hits for Bend.

The Elks score a pair of runs in both the third and fourth inning and added another in the six en route to the victory. Bend won the three-game series after also beating the Black Bears 6-2 Friday night. The two teams will conclude their series tonight at 5:05 before heading to the All-Star break. The Elks will then return to the road for a two-game set at Klamath Falls starting Thursday.
