Elks lose ground, fall to Knights

CORVALLIS — Bend dropped its second game in a row to Corvallis on Tuesday night, falling 6-3 to the host Knights in the West Coast League contest.

The Elks (30-20 WCL), who gave up 10 hits and committed three errors against Corvallis, are now three games back of the Knights (33-17) in the WCL South Division standings with four contests left in the regular season.

Bend starter Taylor Elman took the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits over 4 1⁄3 innings. The Elks and the Knights were tied 3-3 after four innings, but Corvallis scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to grab a lead it did not surrender.

Turner Gill paced Bend at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored.

The top two teams in the WCL South Division conclude their three-game series today at Corvallis’ Goss Stadium.
