A musical benefit for Laurel Brauns

As you may have heard by now, Bend-based folk-pop singer-songwriter Laurel Brauns was injured in an accident in early July while riding her bike. She underwent two surgeries for a broken neck, among other treatments and was in the hospital for five days.
Now, she faces mounting medical bills with no insurance, so her friends are rallying to hold a benefit concert for her Thursday.
It’s going down on Northwest Riverfront Street in Bend, home of this summer’s Spirit of the Willow house concert series. Brauns was actually scheduled to play the series Thursday night.
Instead, performers will include Mark Ransom and The Mostest, Shireen Amini, Dennis McGregor and more to be announced. There will also be a raffle of items donated by the community and a keg of beer. Donations will be collected and proceeds will go to help offset Brauns’ bills.
Laurel Brauns benefit concert; 6 p.m. Thursday; donations accepted; 501 N.W. Riverfront St., Bend; www.j.mp/braunsbenefit.
