The Central Oregon Etsy Team will meet for the first time at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the East Bend Public Library, 62080 Dean Swift Road.

Etsy is an online global marketplace for sellers of handmade or vintage items, along with arts and craft supplies. The focus of the meeting is to help Etsy shop owners create successful online businesses.

Since its start in 2005, Etsy has grown to more than 30 million members and 18 million listed items. Sales reached $895.1 million in 2012.

Etsy encourages its shop owners to work together in teams to provide community support. Anyone interested in learning about starting an Etsy shop is welcome to attend the meeting.

More than 150 Central Oregonians own Etsy shops, selling handmade items including art, jewelry, soap, accessories, gourmet dog treats, jewelry and more.
