Western Communications, a family-owned newspaper company headquartered in beautiful Bend, Oregon, is looking for a Corporate Circulation and Operations Director. In addition to being the Circulation Director for The Bulletin (30,000 circulation flagship paper in Bend), this individual will have an advisory role with the company’s other newspapers, (5 in Oregon and 2 in California) to lead us to the next level in both readership and revenue. This role will also oversee production/print of all Western Communications locations. Western Communications, Inc. provides a culture of success encompassing a team of Directors who work closely together to grow readership and revenue. Ideal candidate will possess strong marketing skills with a proven and consistent track record of success. Database marketing experience is preferred. DTI experience also beneficial as we prepare to transition to “the Cloud environment”. Must be a strong communicator with the ability to set and meet strategic goals. Required qualities include, ability to motivate, recruit and supervise personnel; Must be a strategic and analytical individual; strong marketing/branding skills are essential and include data-base marketing. Ideal strengths include creativity, enthusiasm, and very proactive combined with ability to set and monitor goals. Experience in both digital and print platforms preferred; ability to grow both readership and revenue in circulation and aggressively pursue commercial printing opportunities; Solid working knowledge of production including mailroom, prepress and pressroom. Multi-tasking is a necessity with strong budgeting skills.
