Protest on the water

Aboard a boat on the Willamette River in Portland, opponents of coal export projects send a message to Gov. John Kitzhaber on Thursday. A handful of protesters gathered in opposition to plans that would transport millions of tons of coal a year through Oregon and Washington state’s Columbia River Gorge on the way to Asia.
