GLADSTONE — Madras High remained perfect in Tri-Valley Conference volleyball play as the White Buffaloes swept host Gladstone 25-11, 25-20, 25-14 on Wednesday night to improve to 7-0 in league play.
Junior middle blocker Alexis Urbach posted 12 kills and 3 1⁄2 blocks and junior outside hitter Shelby Mauritson added 10 kills of her own in the road win.
“Our goal was to be consistent and play our level of volleyball,” Madras coach Rhea Cardwell said. “We passed confidently and our serve-receive was excellent.”
The White Buffaloes, who have just three league matches remaining this season, recorded six blocks against the Gladiators, who fell to 1-6 in TVC contests.

Sweet Home 4, La Pine 0: LA PINE — The host Hawks were blanked for the second day in a row by the Huskies, though this effort marked an improvement on Tuesday’s 3-0 Sky-Em League loss at Sweet Home, according to La Pine coach Scott Winslow. “We played much better,” Winslow said. “We played soccer today and were not spectators. We had the ball at their end several times and couldn’t finish.” Kaitlyn Mickel made five saves in goal for the winless Hawks (0-6 Sky-Em, 0-9-1 overall), and Winslow credited Kelbi Irvin for a strong defensive performance.
