The federal government shutdown has caused the cancellation of a second public meeting concerning the Oregon spotted frog, planned for Central Oregon.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was set to host the meeting on the amphibian, which is a candidate for Endangered Species Act protection, tonight at the La Pine Senior Center, said Peter Gutowsky, principal planner for Deschutes County.
County planners were also going to be on hand to answer questions about the possible listing of the frog and the impact it could have on land use.
A meeting about the frog set for last weekend in Sunriver was also canceled due to the shutdown.
