DAYTON, Nev. — Bend professional golfer Andrew Vijarro cruised into the second stage of the Web.com National Qualifying School.

The 24-year-old fired a 3-under-par 69 in the final round Friday at his first-stage Q-School site at Dayton Valley Golf Club. That put the former Bend High School golf standout at 1 under through 72 holes and well inside the cut to advance.

Playing in a 75-golfer field, Vijarro finished in a tie for 14th place, easily within the top 32 golfers and ties who advanced to the second qualifying stage in November.

To make the Web.com Tour, golfers must play 252 holes over three stages. The top 50 golfers in the final qualifying stage in December become full-time members of the 2014 Web.com Tour, the PGA Tour’s primary developmental circuit.
