An orientation meeting for prospective basketball officials is set for next week in Bend.

The meeting, hosted by the Central Oregon Basketball Officials Association, will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the library at Mountain View High School. All potential officials are invited to attend, as are all first-, second- and third-year COBOA members.

No officiating experience is required, and both men and women are welcome to attend the orientation session, at which training, schedules, procedures and other officiating-related topics will be discussed.

The COBOA serves youth, prep and adult basketball leagues throughout Central Oregon. Officials are paid; rates vary.
