The former pumice mine area is being considered for the OSU-Cascades campus. This will require landfill to appropriately stabilize the area for building. Let the Deschutes River recede to its normal channel flow, allow the Mirror Pond silt buildup to dry, then excavate the dirt to the pumice mine area. Bend will once again have its lovely Mirror Pond.
