Officer shoots, kills burglary suspect

Oregon State Police and the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting.

According to a news release from OSP, Bend Police responded to a possible burglary in progress at 10:22 p.m. Friday at 2878 N.E. Jackdaw Drive. Police had been at the house earlier in the day when they served a search warrant and seized methamphetamine, heroin and firearms.

Officers found a man leaving the house and he was shot during the interaction. The 31-year-old man, not a resident of the house, was taken to St. Charles Bend where he was pronounced dead. The man’s name has not been released.

The Bend Police officer, whose name has not been released, is on paid administrative leave.
