The memorial service celebrating her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4 at City View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Salem, located at 390 Hoyt Street, and will be officiated by Pastor Syd Brestel, Foundary Church, Bend, OR.
Delpha was born December 1, 1927 in Salem, Oregon. Her father worked at Kay Woolen Mills and her mother was a successful restaurant and motel owner. Delpha attended Phagan’s Beauty School in Salem and she and her mother owned a successful hair styling salon in Salem. Delpha was married to Gerold in 1950 and followed him into the mountains during his career in the timber industry. They eventually moved to Bend, Oregon, where she was involved in supporting her family as a stay at home mother, devoting her time to her family. She was heavily involved in supporting her sons’ early entrepreneurial activities as well as her husband’s political life as mayor of Redmond. She was always busy volunteering in the kitchen at First Baptist Church. Her life beautifully portrayed her love and continued support of her family as she modeled the love of Christ in her service to others. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, making pies, cake decorating, crocheting and passing on her legacy and many talents to other family members. She enjoyed serving others in her home and always had coffee and pie available to whoever stopped by. She will be lovingly missed by all.
