Bend’s annual Christmas parade, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, has been canceled due to the extreme cold.

Officials with the Downtown Bend Business Association decided this afternoon to cancel the event after several planned participants canceled, citing the weather.

“It doesn’t seem like the responsible thing to do, to put people out there for an hour and a half,” association executive director Chuck Arnold said.

The National Weather Service forecasts a high of just 10 degrees in Bend tomorrow, with wind chills at -12 degrees. The parade had been scheduled to start at noon.
