Meeting on Bend’s future
Volcanic Theatre Pub (70 S.W. Century Drive, Bend) will host a meeting Tuesday on the topic “What’s Brewing In Your Community? Three Things in Three Years.”
The discussion — presented by the Bend Chamber of Commerce — will center around the questions: “What three things are the most important for Bend (to do) in the next three years?” and “Where do you want to see Bend by December 31, 2014, primarily within business and economic development?”
The meeting runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and costs $15 to attend for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Register at bendchamber.org/chamber-events/whats-brewing-bends-town-hall-tbd.
Scouts collecting Christmas trees
Local Boy Scout troops will collect and recycle Christmas trees in Central Oregon today and Sunday.
A $5 donation is requested; more is welcome. All money goes to the troops for activities, community service projects and replacement of camping and outdoor gear.
Residents of Bend and Redmond do not need to call for pickup. Troops will post door fliers specifying which days they will pick up trees in your neighborhood. Trees should be cleaned of all decorations and placed in a visible location by the street. Checks should be made out to “Boy Scouts of America” or as specified on the door flier, placed in a plastic bag and secured to the tree with a rubber band.
