New restaurant proposed in Bend

A new restaurant is planned on Century Drive next to Umpqua Bank in the Century Park Shopping Center, according to plans submitted to the Community Development Department in Bend.

Pacific Pizza & Brew leased the property from Century Park LLC, according to Peter Lowes, a commercial real estate broker with The Lowes group. Lowes said the restaurant may be up and running by year’s end. Pacific Pizza & Brew incorporated in November, according to state records. The company owners, Kenneth and Jennifer Johnson, could not be reached Tuesday for comment.

Bob Dietz, comanager of Century Park LLC, who applied for a site plan and design review, could not be reached for comment.

Century Park applied to the city to combine two lots into one at the unimproved site southwest of the Safeway store.

“It’s basically an alteration of a site-plan design approved in 2004,” Bend attorney Liz Fancher, who reviewed the application for Century Park, said Monday.

The Community Development Department is collecting public comment on the application.

“I think this appears to be a very routine request and do not anticipate any complications or issues with this application,” wrote Heidi Kennedy, a city of Bend senior planner, by email. “I anticipate it will take four to six weeks to process under a normal schedule/timeline.”

The plans call for a 3,740-square-foot restaurant building on an 8,000-square-foot lot. The site plan submitted by Keith D’Agostino of D’Agostino Parker LLC, civil engineers in Bend, calls for a partially covered courtyard and a building design similar to the glass-stone-and-timber style of the bank and the other buildings in the shopping center.

Sufficient parking for another business is already available in the bank parking lot, part of the overall Century Park Shopping Center, according to the site plan. The restaurant would need 19 parking spots, the plan states. The site is set back from Century Drive and situated between the bank and Pilot Butte Drive-In Westside. The restaurant would not have a drive-thru lane, according to the plan.

D’Agostino declined requests for further information.

The shopping center is already home to Pilot Butte Drive-In, Taco del Mar, Starbucks and a sandwich counter at Safeway. A number of other eateries can be found nearby on Century Drive.
