OSU-Cascades public meetings
Oregon State University-Cascades Campus will hold two public meetings in late February for members of the community to review the school’s plan for the first phase of its expansion into a four-year university.
The first phase is located on a wooded 10-acre parcel on Bend’s west side. Later stages of development are expected to occur on an adjacent 46-acre property that includes a former pumice mine.
For the first phase, the university plans to construct two to three buildings containing student residences, academic space and retail.
The first meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Cascades Hall on the Central Oregon Community College campus. The second meeting will be held at noon Feb. 28 at the same location.
Sled dog races are canceled
The 2014 Chemult Sled Dog Races scheduled to take place Feb. 15-16 have been canceled due to a lack of snow, according to a press release from the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Event organizers are hopeful they will be able to hold the race in 2015.
