George (Perk) W. Hammons

George was born the youngest of nine children in Prairie City, Oregon, to George and Maybelle Hammons. George served on the Pendleton, Oregon, Police Department for eight years and continued his career in law enforcement in Redmond, Oregon, for the next 15 years, retiring as a sergeant in 1985. For the next 12 years, he owned and operated two restaurants in the Salem area and made his home in Brooks, Oregon, until his passing.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Loretta Hammons, his children, Rhonda Frazier (Brian), Donna Hocker (David), David Hammons (Melanie) and Ronald Hammons (Carrie); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Violet Yarber, Ruth Holmes, Norma Fry, and many nieces and nephews.

George loved the Lord, loved his family and was known for his uncompromising integrity. He will be missed by all who loved him.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on February 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Brooks Assembly of God Church in Brooks, Oregon.
