Kristen Beem, Jared Kaping and Mackenzie Lind , of Bend, were named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.

Teen Feats

Alyssa McCray has been selected as the April 2014 High Desert Hero. McCray, a senior at Trinity Lutheran High School, has a 3.9 GPA. She is a member of the Oregon High School Solar Team, Bella Choir, Youth Choir of Central Oregon, jazz band, has participated in school musicals and is a Lego Robotics assistant coach.

Matthew Fiacco is a member of Troop 21 and is a senior at Bend High School. For his community service project, Fiacco created a poster campaign on the hantavirus. With volunteers, Fiacco contributed 129 hours to speaking with health-related services and hanging the education posters. He is the son of Laura and Paul Fiacco, of Bend.

Military Notes

Air Force Airman Quinton Lequieu has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas. He is a 2013 graduate of Culver High School. He is the son of Jerri Stratton, of Roseburg.

Air Force Airman Tanner Brouillard has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas. He is a 2013 graduate of Redmond High School. He is the son of Rebecca and David Brouillard, of Redmond.

Army National Guard Pvt. Trahern Fox has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. He is a 2013 graduate of Mazama High School in Klamath Falls. He is the son of Alma Robles, of Bend, and Trahern Fox, of Klamath Falls.
