Classes in Bend address child safety, abuse

As part of the month-long Blue Ribbon Campaign, the KIDS Center is hosting a series of talks in April aimed at helping prevent child abuse. For more information on the classes, contact www.kidscenter.org or 541-383-5958.

• Tour KIDS Center: One-hour tour includes meeting with staff. Noon to 1 p.m. April 18.

• Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children: This training program offers five steps to help prevent child sexual abuse. $20 per person. Bend — 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to noon April 21; Prineville — 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 22; Madras — 5 to 8 p.m. April 23.

• Internet Safety: Two-hour training aimed at parents and caregivers focuses on online dangers and how to talk with children. $10 per person. Bend — 1 to 3 p.m. April 11 and 6 to 8 p.m. April 16; Prineville — 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 15; Madras — 5 to 7 p.m. May 21.

• Let’s Talk About It: Class teaches adults what’s developmentally appropriate sexual behavior for children age 2 to 7. $10 per person. Bend — 6 to 8 p.m. April 24.

• Public and Permanent: Preventing Sexting, Cyber Bullying and Beyond: Richard Guerry from the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication will talk bout prevention myriad digital issues in families. Ages 12 and older; $5 adults in Bend; free for children and for training in Prineville. Bend — 6 to 8 p.m. April 29; Prineville — 6 to 8 p.m. April 30.
