January 6, 1920 – April 17, 2014Vernadine Bye Bauer Smith died April 17, 2014 at her residence in Madras, OR at the age of 94.

She was born to Guy and Ella (Chambers) Bye on January 6, 1920 in Bovill, Idaho. They moved to Bend in 1923 and she spent most of her life in Central Oregon, graduating from Redmond High in 1938. Vernadine married Edwin Bauer in 1940; he preceded her in death in 1957. She remarried to Donald B. Smith in 1961; he also preceded her in death, in 1986.

Vernadine attended Central Oregon Community College. She owned and operated Chic Beauty Shop in Redmond for 19 years. She also earned a certificate as a National Ceramic Instructor. She was a member of the Good News Fellowship Church in Redmond and was a member of the Redmond Grange and the New Beginnings and Singles Club.A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. April 24, 2014 at Redmond Memorial Chapel, followed by a graveside service 1:30 p.m. at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.
