Dec. 25,1927 – May 23, 2014

Irene P. Beyers, age 86, peacefully left this earth May 23, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Lewiston, Maine to Anthony and Julia Kaunas. She later settled in Portland, Oregon and in 1951, married her late husband, Ralph Beyers, a firefighter with the City of Portland for 31 years. She helped run the family printing business until 1992. She then moved to their long-favorite town of La- Pine, Oregon. Throughout her retirement, she was very happy to volunteer her time as a supporter of the LaPine Branch of the Deschutes County Library. She enjoyed almost daily interaction with local artists, and was a member of the Moose Lodge.

She loved books all of her life. She passionately believed in helping others to learn to read, and enjoyed reading with children very much.

Irene was a serious student of fine art and watercolor painting. She loved music, writing, and the company of her friends. Like her mother, she was skillful with many beautiful kinds of knitting and crochet work.

She leaves behind her four children; one sister, four grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

She will be interred at Rose City Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. In lieu of flowers to the family, please consider a donation to the local hospice providers, Partners in Care, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct. Bend, OR 97701; 541-382-5882. Baird Memorial Chapel of La Pine is in charge of arrangements.
