Reverend Dey died May 25, 2014. She was born December 14, 1927 in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer & Charlotte Bowers.

Jane was a Registered Nurse. She graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City in 1948; the University of Kansas with a Bachelors degree in Nursing in 1970; and from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1975, with a Masters Degree in Public Health Administration.

Her career was primarily in Public Health. She worked for the Johnson County Kansas Health Department, for the American Nurses Association and was Chief, Bureau of Community Health Nursing, Missouri Department of Health from 1976 until her retirement in 1992. She belonged to the Missouri Nurses Association, The American Health Association, the Missouri Public Health Association, Sigma Theta Tau (Nursing Honorary) and the Eastern Star. She received the Missouri Public Health Association’s “W. Scott Johnson” Award and the Association of State and Territorial Directors of Nursing’s Award of Merit. She was a member of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Education and Practice. She was a member of the Deschutes County Public Health Advisory Board from February, 2010 until August, 2013.

On February 27, 1993 she was ordained a Deacon in the Episcopal Church and served as Deacon at Grace Episcopal Church, Jefferson City, Missouri and The Church of the Transfiguration, Sisters Oregon.

In 1948 she married Thomas Alexander Dey who died in 1973. They had two sons, Scott E. Dey who predeceased her and Thomas A. Dey, Jr. (Kathy) of Lenexa, Kansas. She is also survived by three grandsons, William A. Dey, Andrew J. Dey and Mathew L. Dey; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Susan Littlefield (Milton) of Redmond, Oregon.

She was cremated. There will be a service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 at Church of the Transfiguration in Sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the Transfiguration, Sisters, Oregon or to a charity of one’s choice.
