Sept. 9, 1921 – May 30, 2014If one were to described a gracious southern lady, our mom, Nancy Ellen Jordan would have every quality listed: quiet, graceful, confident, reserved, but, always in command. She was a proud Navy wife who kept us all together as we crisscrossed the country with three boys, and finally a daughter, in tow. She was always there to give us a boost or a boot whenever we needed it! Our successes in life were in large part due to the characteristics she instilled in us during our formative years. She rarely complained about anything, and made a great life for her and our dad after we all left the nest. She was really lost when he passed in 2006, but she continued to set a great example of how to live a good life. Regretfully a stroke last year took away the best parts of her, and she slipped away from us and passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and our daddy on Friday night, May 30th. We were so blessed to have such a wonderful, amazing mom and have a lifetime of great memories for comfort.Nancy was born on September 9, 1921 in Townville, South Carolina to Daniel Ralston Ledbetter and Mary Grace Ledbetter.Nancy is survived by one sister, Martha Sims; her sons, Michael, Cleve, and Mark, and daughter, Lena Norton; nine grands; and 11 great-grands.A memorial service is being planned by the Jordan family 10:00 a.m. July 18 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Nancy’s life can be made to The Salvation Army or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
