Patty was born in Yakima, WA December 10, 1923 the second child of the late William Paul Brooks and Sarah “Gertrude” Gregg-Brooks. Patty had an older brother Gregg and a younger brother Bill. The family lived at Naches Heights in the Yakima Valley on the family owned apple farm. The family relocated to Withrow, WA where Patty’s father purchased a wheat ranch and from there moved to Grand Junction CO. The family moved to Tulelake, CA during Patty’s high school years where she graduated.

While living in Tulelake, Patty’s brother Gregg introduced her to his best friend Jerry Drazil, who became her future husband of 67 years. Patty and Jerry were married November 4, 1944 in Tulelake, CA. After the wedding Patty and Jerry settled in Malin, OR to work on the Drazil family farm until 1948. Jerry and Patty moved to the Culver area where they raised their family and Jerry continued his farming career.

Patty enjoyed gardening and was involved in her local garden club in Culver until she was 84 years young. She would enter her flowers in the county fair every year along with her canned items and baked goods. Patty loved to cook for her children, grandchildren, family and friends; everything was made with love. Patty was also an Avon Sales Representative in her spare time for over 20 years; she took pleasure in showing her products and interacting with each one of her customers. Patty was very involved in the Metolius Friends Church for more than 40 years; members of the church will remember Patty and Jerry as the greeters every Sunday for many years.

Patty’s interests included gardening, card parties, bowling, square dancing and reading. Patty was very involved with her grandchildren and loved attending all their school/ sporting events.
