The week ahead

A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports:

Tuesday

Soccer, World Cup, USA vs. Belgium, 1 p.m. (ESPN): The Americans survived the Group of Death and managed to get to the knockout round. The Belgians are one of the darkhorses of this World Cup, stacked with players from Europe’s biggest club teams, but this particular group of Belgians has not achieved anything of note at a major international tournament.

Friday

Running, Spark Your Heart 5K in Bend, 7:30 a.m.; Todd Beamer Memorial 10K in Madras, 8 a.m.: These two popular Central Oregon runs (and walks) are Fourth of July staples and offer a fit way to kick off your holiday weekend. For more information, including registration, visit www.sparkyourheartbend.com or www.macaquatic.com.

Saturday

Cycling, Tour de France, 3 a.m. (NBCSN): The 101st edition of the Tour will start with a road stage instead of a prologue, and the 190.5-kilometer opening stage will take place in Great Britain. The 21-stage race will include swings into Belgium and Spain before reaching the traditional finish on July 27 in Paris, where women’s teams for the first time will take part in a stage of their own.

Saturday-Sunday

Tennis, Wimbledon, 6 a.m. both days (ESPN): Breakfast at Wimbledon features the women’s final on Saturday and the men’s final on Sunday. Who will hoist the winners’ trophies at Centre Court in the third of the season’s four Grand Slam championship tournaments?

Sunday

Running, FootZone Dirty Half trail half marathon, Bend, 7 a.m.: Rescheduled from its original June 8 date because of the Two Bulls Fire, the 13th running of the Dirty Half will be staged on a loop of trails and roads west of Bend. Last year, nearly 700 runners finished the race. Registration closes at 5 p.m. Thursday. For more information, visit www.footzonebend.com/dirty_half.
