Local racer wins Oregon Enduro event — Bend’s Alex McCuinnis won Sunday’s Oregon Enduro Series outside of Bend at Wanoga Sno-park, totaling 25 minutes 55.854 seconds on five different downhill stages. Curtis Keene, of Santa Monica, California, who led the series entering Sunday’s event, was second in 25:58.834. Abby Hippely, of State College, Pennsylvania, was the fastest female finisher in 29:27.933. Enduro racing totals mountain bikers times over several downhill stages. Sunday’s event was held on parts of the Funner, Tiddlywinks, Storm King, and Tyler’s Traverse trails.
RUNNING
More than 200 run in Madras race — William Ward won the Todd Beamer Memorial 10K Run in Madras on Friday, turning in a time of 38 minutes, 17.71 seconds. Jamie Hurd, also of Madras, posted the top female time in 40:41. More than 200 people participated in the annual memorial event, which also included a 6-mile run and a 2-mile fun run.
