Louie Alacano, a resident of Prineville, Oregon, died June 25, 2014 in Prineville. He was 78 years of age.

Louie was born on September 11, 1935 in Elko, Nevada, and was the son of Luciano and Concha (Odiago) Alacano. He graduated from Elko High School in 1954 and attended trade school in Nebraska to become an electrician.

In 1955, he married Deanna Rizzi in Elko, Nevada. They were married 58 years and raised two children. He worked for the Elko Power Company, Bell Telephone and wired houses on the side for extra income. In 1961 he owned and operated the Arctic Circle Drive Inn in Yakima, Wash- ington and in 1964 he moved to Portland where he partnered in the Arctic Circle Business with his brother. In 1971 he sold his share and moved to Bend, Oregon with his family.

After retirement, Louie was involved in the sheep industry and real estate. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and traveling south for the winter. He was a hard-working man who possessed a strong desire to be successful and to help his family succeed. He embraced his Basque Heritage with a love for good music, dancing and good food. Simply put, Louie enjoyed life and spent much of it enjoying his family and grandchildren.

Louie is survived by his wife, Deanna of Prineville; son, Craig (wife, Cyndie) of Powell Butte; daughter, Sina of Sparks, Nevada; grandson, Carson of Bismarck, North Dakota; and his brother, Enes (wife, Kathy) of Boise, Idaho, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Cody.

A Celebration of Louie’s Life will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Prineville Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at Meadow Lake Golf Course with a committal service at Redmond Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Louie to St. Charles Hospice, Prineville. Prineville Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
