A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and elsewhere from the world of sports:
Tuesday
Baseball, MLB All-Star Game in Minneapolis, 5 p.m. (Fox): The 85th Midsummer Classic will be staged at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. One of the highlights will be the final All-Star appearance of Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, a 14-time AL selection who will be making his ninth All-Star start. For the NL, dynamic Dodger outfielder Yasiel Puig will be starting in his first All-Star game.
Tuesday
Baseball, Bend Elks vs. Sonoma Top Speed at Vince Genna Stadium, 6:35 p.m.: It’s a nonleague contest for the Elks, but it’s also the final scheduled $2 Tuesday promotion of the season. The two-game series concludes on Wednesday night, after which the Elks are on the road until they host West Coast League foe Wenatchee on July 25.

Cycling, Cascade Cycling Classic: The 35th running of this annual race — the longest-running elite road stage race in the U.S. — starts Tuesday with the prologue at Tetherow Golf Club in Bend (6 p.m.). Wednesday-Sunday
Equestrian, Oregon High Desert Classics, Bend, 8 a.m. daily: Celebrating its 25th year, this international hunter-jumper competition takes place over two weeks at J Bar J Boys Ranch in east Bend. Highlighting the first week will be the $25,000 Oxford Hotel Group Grand Prix on Saturday (4:30 p.m.). Spectators are welcome; admission is free. Thursday-Sunday
Golf, British Open, Hoylake, England, first round, 4 a.m. Thursday (ESPN): Royal Liverpool hosts the 143rd edition of the oldest of pro golf’s four major championships. Last year, Phil Mickelson made the British Open the latest of his five major titles. Rory McIlroy is the favorite this time around, and Tiger Woods is expected to play in his first major of the year.
