A 21-year-old Bend woman was killed this afternoon in a crash east of Bend near Alfalfa Market and Dodds roads, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
The initial investigation shows Kaylene Abbey was driving a Toyota pickup west on Alfalfa Market Road about 12:20 p.m. when she lost control and the truck left the roadway, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The pickup rolled and came to rest on its top in an irrigation ditch, which had about 2 feet of water in it. The crash prompted officials to close the road for about an hour.
Investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office. Abbey was wearing her seat belt, and road and weather conditions did not initially appear to be a factor, the news release stated.
