Members of the Aspen Ridge Retirement Community’s home brewing crew won “Best in Show” at the Deschutes County’s Fair’s Wine, Beer and Cheese competition with their Machine Gun Maggie India Pale Ale.

Now in its second year, the Aspen Ridge home brewing crew — a resident guided program that has been copied by at least one retirement community in the Pacific Northwest — entered a total of 12 beers in this year’s fair.

The home brew crew also won seven first place awards at the fair for its All American Blonde Ale, Mad Russian Baltic Porter, Huffy Heffer Hefeweisen, Sunny Daze Cream Ale, and Sweet Tart Fruit Beer.
