Bands gather for Jason Costa

Jason Costa is a longtime fixture in Bend’s music scene, most prominently as bassist for the progressive hard rock band Tentareign and as the sound guru, stage manager and owner Derek Sitter’s right-hand man at Volcanic Theatre Pub.
He’s also an exceedingly nice guy.
Anyway, Costa recently ended up in the hospital. Details have not been shared publicly, but an email blast from Volcanic last week described the reason as a “severe illness.”
A hospital stay (and resulting treatment), of course, comes at a cost, and tonight, Volcanic is hosting a benefit concert for Costa featuring Portland-based punk-blues band (and Bend faves) Hopeless Jack & The Handsome Devil, Portland rockers Machine and locals Necktie Killer and Ryan Pickard.
Raffles are also planned, and a $10 donation is suggested for entry, though you can, of course, give more to help support Costa and honor his contributions to Central Oregon’s scene. All proceeds go to help cover his medical bills.
Benefit for Jason Costa with Hopeless Jack & the Handsome Devil, Machine, Necktie Killer and Ryan Pickard; 8 tonight; $10 suggested donation; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; www.volcanictheatrepub.com.
