Suspects accused in Bend home burglaries

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with three separate home burglaries in Bend, while one suspect remains at large, according to Bend Police.

On Aug. 23,, a resident arrived at her home on NE Watson Drive home and saw two people running out her back door carrying items from her residence.

Nicholas Husted, 23, a transient, was found with property allegedly from the residence . Officers also found items from an unreported burglary on Royal Oak Circle in Bend.

Husted was arrested and faces two counts of first-degree theft and one count of second-degree theft, according to police.

The second suspect in the incident has not been identified.

In the third incident, a purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked inside an attached garage sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 21 and 8 a.m. Aug. 23 on NW Celilo in Bend.

Purchases were made with a credit card from the purse, including at Big 5 Sporting Goods in Bend.

Bend Police reviewed the surveillance system at the store and identified the suspect as Joseph Therrien, 30, of Bend, the release said.

Police officers served a search warrant at Therrien’s apartment, where they found evidence. Therrien, who was at the apartment, was arrested and faces charges of first-degree burglary, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, fraudulent use of a credit card, identity theft, second-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Both Husted and Therrien were in custody at the Deschutes County jail.
