FLAG FOOTBALL

Officials needed — The Bend Park & Recreation District is looking for referees for the 2013 fall flag football season. Prior referee experience is not required, but all referees must have sound football knowledge. Applicants must be at least 15 years old. Pay rates vary from $12 to $18 per game. Games will be held Sept. 14 through Nov. 2. Anyone interested must attend a mandatory meeting this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the park district’s office on SW Columbia Street. CONCUSSIONS

Free concussion clinic — The Bend Park & Recreation District will hold a free clinic titled “Ahead of the Game: What you should know about concussions,” Sept. 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at its district office on SW Columbia St. The panel discussion is aimed at parents, students, coaches and referees. No pre-registration is required.

WINTER SPORTS

MBSEF winter swap at new location — The 2014 Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation will hold its annual Skyliners Winter Sports Swap at Bend’s Riverhouse Convention Center on Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those that wish to sell items should come to the Riverhouse on Oct. 9 between noon and 6 p.m. or Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MBSEF takes a 25 percent commission on all sales. RUGBY

Fall season under way — The Bend Roughriders went 1-1 on Saturday at Pine Nursery Park in their first tournament of the fall season. Bend defeated Tacoma 33-5 in their first match before falling to Portland 51-12. The Lady Roughriders went 0-2 on Saturday, losing to a club from Spokane, Washington, and the Utah Vipers out of Salt Lake City.
