Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services, which provides mental health and substance abuse treatment to youths, is adding office and conference space, as well as upgrades to its residential campus in Prineville on NW Ninth Street.
Construction began Monday and it’s a two- to three-month project, said Mark Maxwell, senior project manager for SunWest Builders.
“Right now we have the foundation excavated and ready for concrete. We hope to have concrete done early next week,” he said. “Inside, framing is underway and we hope to be ready for electrical work inside that area by middle of next week.”
Erica Fuller-Hewitt, executive director of Rimrock Trails, estimates the addition will cost around $240,000. The project is financed through Columbia Bank with federal backing via the U.S. Department of Agriculture business and industry loan guarantee program.
The number of teens served doubled over the last year, according to Rimrock. In 1990, Rimrock Trails began as Central Oregon Extended Unit for Recovery with a 12-bed unit in Prineville Memorial Hospital. The residential campus was constructed a few years later. Today it is a 24-bed facility that services youth 12 to 17 and is one of five adolescent drug and alcohol residential treatment centers in the state. The nonprofit also has outpatient offices in Bend, Redmond and Prineville.
“This enhances the mission we have to serve our clients to the best of our ability and to provide an enriching experience for them while they’re on the road to recovery,” said Jan Brieske, business manager for Rimrock Trails.
