Athletics 3, Mariners 2 (10 inns.)

SEATTLE — Jed Lowrie drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the 10th inning to force in the tiebreaking run and lift Oakland to a victory over Seattle. Mariners reliever Fernando Rodney (1-6) came on in the 10th and walked Coco Crisp to open the inning. After Crisp advanced to second on a sacrifice, Rodney intentionally walked Josh Donaldson and then Alberto Callaspo drew another walk to load the bases.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — David Freese hit a two-run homer and Mike Trout had an RBI triple during Los Angeles’ seven-run fifth inning, and the Angels beat Houston for their ninth consecutive victory. Kole Calhoun had a tiebreaking, two-run single in the fifth for the major league-leading Angels (92-55), who began their final homestand by reducing their magic number to five for their first AL West title since 2009. They lead spiraling Oakland, which lost 4-2 in Seattle, by 11 games with 15 to play.

Yankees 3, Orioles 2

BALTIMORE — Chris Young stole home in his latest surprising September performance, and the New York Yankees beat AL East-leading Baltimore, ending the Orioles’ longest winning streak of the season at six. New York stayed on the fringe of the wild-card race while Baltimore’s magic number for clinching the division remained at five. Cut by the Mets earlier this year, Young has seemed to deliver for the Yankees on a daily basis this week. He doubled during a three-run second off Miguel Gonzalez (9-8) and swiped home as part of a double steal.
