PRINEVILLE — A kickoff return for a touchdown turned the momentum for Henley, and the visiting Hornets from Klamath Falls pinned a 48-28 loss on Crook County in a nonconference football game Friday night.
Henley led 14-0 in the first quarter before Blake Bartels passed 5 yards to Parker Lapsley for a touchdown, and Cole Ovens’ point-after kick got Crook County within 14-7. But the Hornets returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown and never looked back.
Collbran Meeker gained 110 yards on 19 carries, Clark Woodward added 72 yards on 11 attempts, and Crook County (1-1) finished with 343 rushing yards.
The Cowboys scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, two on short runs by Ovens and another on a 2-yard run by Meeker.
The Cowboys play at Sisters next Friday.
