A Three Rivers School teacher has been named an Oregon finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching.

Janet McLain, who teaches first grade at the school in Sunriver, was recognized in August at the Oregon Math Leaders Conference in McMinnville. The awards were established in 1983 by Congress and are administered by the National Science Foundation.
