Vancouver homicide — Police say a man sought in a Vancouver, Washington, stabbing death has been arrested after a daylong manhunt. Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said 57-year-old Jack R. Yancey was located late Thursday afternoon and questioned by detectives. Yancey was then booked into the Clark County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder. The man is accused of fatally stabbing 50-year-old Gary L. Adams on Wednesday night. After a reported possible sighting of Yancey near a park, a SWAT team and extra officers were called to search an area west of the Clark County Courthouse. Three schools in the area were temporarily locked down and some streets were briefly closed.

Fatal feud — A Josephine County man has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting his neighbor in a long-running feud. The sentence imposed Thursday in Grants Pass sets a minimum of 25 years before 65-year-old Donald Easley of Kerby can be considered for release from prison. In a rambling statement in court, Easley repeatedly proclaimed his innocence in the September 2013 shooting of Laron Estes, leading Judge Pat Wolke to note that he was blaming everyone but himself. In 2009, Easley had shot and killed another man who lived on the same property. That case was ruled self-defense.

‘Ecstasy candy’ — Police are warning Eugene residents to beware of “ecstasy candy.” A bag with about 140 pieces of the drug-laced candy wrapped in plastic was seized last week when two men were arrested at a park. The Lane County Health Department tells KVAL other pieces of the candy that may have been distributed could be dangerous, especially for children, because the amount of the drug MDMA is unknown.

Homecoming court — Ashland High School doesn’t have a homecoming king and queen for the first time since the 1950s. This year three seniors were voted for the honor of “Grizzly Court Royalty.” A co-student body president, Brielle Preskenis, tells the Mail Tribune students decided to change the traditional homecoming king and queen to avoid exclusion and open the opportunity to students who are gender neutral or transgender.

Milwaukie stabbing — The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says a man was critically injured in a stabbing Thursday night at a Milwaukie apartment. The victim was found bleeding in the parking lot. Deputies found the knife and detained his roommate as the suspect.
