PRINEVILLE — Collbran Meeker rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown and caught a pass for a score to lead Crook County to a 42-28 Tri-Valley Conference football win Friday night.
The host Cowboys (1-1 TVC, 3-2) trailed 21-20 at halftime before reeling off 16 points in the third quarter to take a lead they would not relinquish. Parker Lapsley added 91 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Cole Ovens contributed 85 yards rushing on 10 carries. Blake Bartels completed just 3 of 6 passes for 68 yards, but one of those throws was a 50-yard touchdown pass to Meeker. Brogan Howard also had a rushing touchdown for the Cowboys.
“We came out after halftime and ran the ball down their throat,” said Crook County coach Ryan Cochran. “We played smash-mouth football.”
The Cowboys play at Madras on Thursday.
