Bend squeaks past Mountain View in girls soccer

Bend High scored two first-half goals en route to a 3-1 victory over crosstown rival Mountain View on Tuesday to improve to 2-0-1 in Intermountain Conference girls soccer play.

Maile Kilmer and Lacey Adye both scored before the break at Mountain View High School to give the Lava Bears (7-0-1) a 2-0 halftime lead. Rylee Dickinson put the Cougars (2-1 IMC, 5-3) on the board in the 45th minute, but Bend sealed the win when Karah McCulley scored in the 55th minute. McCulley and Meagan Bakker recorded asssits for Bend and Taryn Poole had one for Mountain View.

GIRLS SOCCER

Ridgeview 4, Redmond 3: REDMOND — In a back-and-forth Intermountain Conference showdown, the Ravens outlasted their intracity foes as Kaily Fineran tapped in an Aspen Jeter free kick with only a few minutes left in regulation. Jeter also scored for Ridgeview (1-3 IMC, 3-6-1 overall), Saylor Goodwin had two goals, and Tatum Carlin dished out an assist. For Redmond (0-3, 1-6-1), Rose Land had a goal and an assist, Melissa Rockow and Molly Naugher each scored, and Leilani Estrada was credited with an assist.

Sisters 6, Sweet Home 0: SISTERS — Olivia Stewart, Liz Stewart and Cassandra Arruda scored two goals apiece for the host Outlaws, who extended their winning streak to seven games with the Sky-Em League victory. Arruda had three assists in the first half, as Sisters (6-0 Sky-Em, 7-2 overall) charged to a 4-0 lead. Arruda scored both of her goals late in the second half, one of them assisted by Michaela Miller. Outlaws coach Audrey Tehan praised defenders M.J. Murphy and Anna Ortega for their roles in shutting out the Huskies. Sisters has allowed only one goal in league play this season.

Santiam Christian 1, La Pine 0: CORVALLIS — The Hawks hung with the Eagles all game but could not overcome a goal in the 10th minute. La Pine goalkeeper Sydney Bright made several saves to highlight the defense, Hawks coach Scott Winslow said. The loss dropped La Pine to 2-2 in Class 3A/2A/1A Special District 4 play and 5-2-1 overall.

BOYS SOCCER

Ridgeview 8, Redmond 1: REDMOND — Ridgeview’s Joey Brant scored with a minute left in the first half to break the ice, and the hosts rolled in the second half as eight different Ravens scored in the Intermountain Conference match. It was the first league win of the season for Ridgeview, which ended a five-game losing streak. After Brant’s goal got the Ravens going, Ridgeview (1-3 IMC, 3-5-1 overall) got scores from Angel Ortiz Espin, Mitchel Wellette, Eduardo Vargas, Luke Buerger, Malachi Stalberg, Nakoda Sanders and Jonathon Irby to win going away. Carlos Montanez tallied the lone goal for the Panthers (0-3, 0-8).

Sisters 9, Sweet Home 0: SISTERS — Andreas Pedersen scored twice and dished out two assists, and the Outlaws improved to 6-0 in Sky-Em League play with a home win. Jadon Bachtold finished with a goal and three assists, Malachy Sundstrom had two goals, and Connor Schaab, Minam Craven and Ethan Stengel each totaled a goal and an assist. Colton Mannhalter also scored for Sisters, and Ben Larson chipped in with an assist.

East Linn Christian 3, La Pine 2: LEBANON — Ian Johnson scored a pair of goals for the Hawks but the Eagles scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to win the Class 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 match. Justin Petz and goalkeeper Mack Fox posted assists for La Pine (0-7 league, 0-10 overall).

VOLLEYBALL

Summit 3, Redmond 0: REDMOND — The Storm rode the hot serving of Haydn Quatre and Jordan Waskom to the Intermountain Conference victory, topping the Panthers 25-13, 25-9, 25-10. Quatre went 16 of 17 from the service line with three aces and Waskom was a perfect 12-of-12 serving with three aces of her own. Haley Smith led the Storm (4-1 IMC) with 14 kills. Renee Kenneally added eight kills and Waskom ended the match with a team-high seven digs. Redmond fell to 0-4 in league with the loss.

Sisters 3, Elmira 0: ELMIRA — Behind a 15-for-15 serving effort by Ashlynn Cantwell, including seven aces, the Outlaws improved to 7-0 in Sky-Em League play with a 25-6, 25-7, 25-9 rout of Elmira. Hawley Harrer had 10 kills and 16 assists for Sisters, while Allie Spear and Peytan Zanck each contributed with eight kills.

Culver 3, Weston-McEwen 1: ATHENA — In racking up 22 aces as a team, the Bulldogs dealt Weston-McEwen its first Columbia Basin Conference defeat in a 25-12, 25-27, 25-12, 25-8 decision. Shealene Little totaled 22 kills and 13 digs for Culver (4-0 CBC), Margie Beeler had 29 assists and six aces, and Emma Hoke contributed with 18 digs and four aces. Lynze Schonneker finished with six aces, Jazmin Ruiz posted seven digs, and Andrea Retano chipped in with six degs. Jenny Vega had five kills for the Bulldogs, and Kaylee Aldrich added two kills.

Trinity Lutheran 3, Central Christian 0: REDMOND — The Saints of Bend blasted the Tigers in Mountain Valley League play, 25-4, 25-6, 25-17. Allison Jorge dished out a team-high 17 assists and Emily Eidler and Megan Clift each recorded five kills in the win for Trinity Lutheran. As a team, the Saints (8-0 MVL) recorded 25 aces. Central Christian fell to 0-9 in league play with the loss.

BOYS WATER POLO

Summit 14, Ridgeview 5: Tommy Brewer and Baxter Halligan each had three goals, and the Storm improved to 5-0 in Central Valley League play with a victory at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center. Aidan Gallivan finished with two goals and an assist for Summit, Matt Barry posted a goal and an assist, and Kyle Alhart logged six saves in goal.

GIRLS WATER POLO

Summit 15, Ridgeview 1: Behind six goals by Annie Jarvis and three scores and four blocks by Sydney Goodman, the Storm cruised past the Ravens at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center. Paige Miller had three goals for Summit, Jenna Wimmer scored twice, and Caroline Richelsen added a goal. For Ridgeview, Kyrie Prescott logged the lone score, while Maddie Branaugh finished with six blocks.
