A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and elsewhere in the world of sports:
Today
Major League Baseball, AL Championship Series, Baltimore at Kansas City, 5 p.m. (TBS): After beating the Orioles twice in Baltimore, the upstart Royals are in control and can take a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with a win at home tonight as they close in on their first World Series appearance since 1985.
Wednesday
High school cross-country, Central Oregon Relays in Bend, 3 p.m.: Runners from nearly every area high school will be at Bend Pine Nursery for this meet, which serves as a final tuneup for next week’s district championships. The state championship meet for all classifications is set for Nov. 1 at Lane Community College in Eugene.
Thursday
College football, Utah at Oregon State, 7 p.m. (Fox Sports 1): The Beavers play four of their next five games at Reser Stadium, starting with the No. 20 Utes. Both teams are 4-1 overall, 1-1 in Pac-12 play and coming off conference road wins. If either of these teams expects to make any real noise in the Pac-12 this season, this figures to be a must-win game.
Saturday
College football, Washington at Oregon, 5 p.m. (Fox Sports 1): The Ducks are looking to make it 11 in a row against the Huskies in this storied Northwest rivalry. Both teams are coming off impressive road wins — Oregon over UCLA, Washington over California — and both are 5-1 overall with designs on securing the top rung of the Pac-12 North standings.
Sunday
Running, Super Dave’s Down & Dirty Half Marathon, Bend, 9 a.m.: This annual 13.1-mile challenge starts and finishes at Seventh Mountain Resort southwest of Bend. The route is made up of singletrack and dirt roads and includes some taxing climbs. A 10-kilometer race is also available. For more information: www.superfitproductions.com.
