Fall might be the most beautiful season to have a wedding. The leaves turn gorgeous hues of red, yellow and orange, the weather is not-too-hot and not-too-cold and pumpkin and cider are finally back.
There are endless possibilities to incorporate the celebration of the fall season into your wedding — from the bouquet down to the drink selection, weave the season’s offerings throughout the details of your day.
For your florals, add a major fall detail, such as pine cones, thistles, ferns or berries. Keeping rich tones of orange, red and yellow will bring out the season’s colorful spirit.
Signature cocktails are popping up in weddings now more than ever, so make a drink that will warm up and delight your guests. Think spiked ciders, horchata or even a hot toddy station.
Another fantastic way to welcome the cooler weather is by dressing up your bridesmaid apropros. Ilana Stern of WeddingtonWay.com has trends for your favorite ladies that are sure to blend perfectly with your fall theme.
“When it comes to color, navy is a bestseller as we head into fall. From preppy and casual to classy and sophisticated, it can cover all the bases. Coral is also a color that flatters all skin tones, and it doubles as a great pop of color for the fall season,” Stern says.
And be sure to ditch matchy-matchy for the next few months as well. Stern says that “more and more brides are having their bridesmaids mix and match. Pick a color and let your maids select the style that best flatters them. Another fun way to mix and match is to take traditional ‘spring’ colors (think mints and blushes) and combine them with a richer color (like navy) for the fall. Think of how gorgeous a mint and navy combination would be!”
With the welcoming of breezier weather comes longer dresses, too. Opt for an A-line skirted dress, or even a full skirt and a blouse instead. Complete the look with a cardigan a la Kate Middleton, and you’ve got yourself a completely cozy bridal party.
