A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports:
Tuesday
MLB, World Series Game 1, San Francisco at Kansas City, 5:07 p.m., Fox: The best in the NL takes on the best in the AL as the best-of-7 World Series begins. Madison Bumgarner is set to pitch for the Giants in Game 1, while James Shields will throw of the Royals. Game 2 will be on Wednesday, Game 3 is set for Friday and Game 4 will take place Saturday. All starts are at 5:07 p.m. on Fox.
Tuesday
Prep volleyball, Crook County vs. Madras at Ridgeview High, 6 p.m.: The Cowgirls and the White Buffaloes square off for the third time this season, and to the winner goes the Tri-Valley Conference championship and the league’s No. 1 seed in the Class 4A state playoffs. Madras defeated Crook County 3-1 in the first meeting, but the Cowgirls swept the Buffs at home earlier this month.
Friday
Prep football: Eight games involving Central Oregon teams are on the docket. Highlighting the lineup are two teams looking to earn spots in the Class 4A postseason as Crook County entertains Estacada and Sisters hosts Sweet Home. Ridgeview visits Mountain View as the Cougars strive for a second straight IMC crown, and Bend, at home, looks to stay in title contention against Summit.
Friday-Saturday
College football, Oregon at California, 7 p.m., FS1 (Friday); Oregon State at Stanford, 12:30 p.m., TBA (Saturday): The Ducks and Beavers both head to the Bay Area this weekend for key Pac-12 Conference games. Oregon takes on California at Levi Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday night, while Oregon State will battle Stanford in Palo Alto at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Sunday
Monster Dash 5K, 10K and Little Monster’s Mile, 10 a.m.: Celebrate Halloween early with the third running of this costumed race. The Monster Dash begins and ends at Bend’s Highland Elementary School. The 5K course is a counterclockwise lollypop loop around the west side of Bend. Runners of the 10K do the same loop twice. For more information, go to www.fleetfeetbend.com.
