The race for the Sisters City Council brought two challengers into the mix and one, retired nonprofit manager Nancy Connolly, 53, rose to the top in a five-way race for three open seats. Connolly and project manager Robert Wright, 69, challenged incumbents Wendy Holzman, David Asson, and Brad Boyd.
“Encouraging community involvement in a positive fashion, that will be my first priority,” Connolly said.
Boyd, 53, a business owner, has served two nonconsecutive terms on the City Council, the current one as mayor. He garnered the lowest number of votes and was defeated in the election.
Holzman, a 48-year-old library assistant and Asson, a 77-year-old accountant, both began serving in 2011 and appeared to be lined up for re-election.
